Partnerships - Building Community Together
Sorrento
Centre has always had partners in ministry. Together with groups who
have similar values, we have reached out to create leaders in our
communities. The Quakers, the Pentecostal Assemblies of BC, and the
BC Bluegrass Workshops are groups we have been in partnership with.
Anglican Dioceses and the National Church have joint ventured many
educational programs with us. Partnerships is how we continue to
grow.
In recent
years we have initiated partnership programs with parishes in
Alberta and British Columbia. The parish takes charge of programming
and its delivery for a whole summer week. It has been a tremendous
success and we are pleased to welcome some parishes back for
successive years.
Our
partnerships have included the parishes of Christ Church Cathedral
Victoria, St. Michael and All Angel's Cathedral Kelowna, St.
Martin’s Calgary, St. George’s Cadboro Bay, Christ Church Cathedral
Vancouver, the Church of the Good Shepherd Calgary and St. Mary’s

Planned Giving
Major
gifts for Sorrento Centre are received by the newly established
Sorrento Centre Foundation. This Foundation is established to secure
gifts of land, kind and financial support through special trusts in
order that the Centre's ministry will continue into the future. If
you are considering a major gift, please call the Executive Director
of Sorrento Centre.

Bursary Funds
Parishes
and individuals give us gifts that support others coming to Sorrento
Centre. If you wish to make a gift to support others, just drop us a
note and a cheque or your credit card number.
No one should stay home because they are
short of money. Bursaries are here that everyone can be here - call
us!
Dorothy
Thomas Bursary Fund In order for everyone to participate in
Sorrento Centre's programs, we are able to provide full and partial
bursaries through our Dorothy Thomas Bursary Fund. If you require
such support, please contact our office
for an application form. Parishes who are requesting support for an
individual or family are asked to provide transportation to and from
the Centre. Our funds are limited, so donations to our Dorothy
Thomas Bursary Fund are always welcome.
The
Founders' Fund has been set up to encourage youth and young
families to participate in ministry at Sorrento Centre. If you
require assistance please contact the office for details. Donations
towards this new and special bursary honouring Jim Cruickshank and
the early founders will be graciously received.

How you and your Parish can grow:
5 for
the price of 4
It is a priority of Sorrento Centre to support new families and
individuals who have not been here before. We want to support the
ongoing ministry of parishes through our educational ministry at the
Centre.
Churches
and associations are invited to partner with Sorrento Centre in
inviting new families and individuals to benefit from the summer
programs. For every four families registered from your church
congregation or partner association, a fifth new family or
individual is eligible to receive a credit worth up to $600.
This amount would cover the costs of one adult course, one week stay
in a cabana and activity fees for one adult and two children. If at
all possible, parishes are encouraged to help with transportation
costs to and from the Centre.
How
does it work?
Parish contacts, clergy and organizations who choose to partner
in this "5 for the price of 4" discount can register with Sorrento
Centre. Partnership registration forms are available from our
Registrar. Congregations and organizations should submit their
church partnership registration form in order to be eligible for the
discount certificate. When four or more family or individual
registrations from a congregation or organization are received, we
will give that church/organization a gift certificate. The gift
certificate can be given to families or individuals who have not
been to Sorrento Centre before, or who do not have the financial
resources for a holiday.

Bursaries
Partial
and full bursaries are available for families and individuals. If
you are planning to apply for a bursary, please identify which
program you would like to participate in. We believe that anyone who
needs to be here, should be here, and not be discouraged to come
because of a lack of funds.
We would
encourage parishes that know of families or individuals who they
believe would benefit from a stay at Sorrento Centre to propose
candidates for bursaries to our Executive Director. The process of
approving for the use of bursary funds usually takes two weeks,
sometimes less.
Parishes
who are requesting support for an individual or a family are asked
to provide transportation to and from the Centre. Many families and
individuals have benefited from a stay at Sorrento Centre and it is
a rich gift that the parishes and the Centre can work together to
provide.

Gift Certificates
Are you

from a time away from daily pressures and would enjoy an
inspirational vacation at Sorrento Centre? Look no further. We issue
gift certificates redeemable for courses and holiday packages in any
amount that you would like.
In the
past, parents and grandparents have registered their families or
individuals here and paid for it through gift certificates. It is as
easy as picking up the phone. Our office staff will be able to help
