Sorrento Centre Mission Review
January 13, 2012
Dear Associates of Sorrento Centre:
Your Board of Directors is engaging in a fundamental review of Sorrento’s Mission, Vision and its Strategic Directions, in anticipation of our 50th Anniversary in 2013. We need your help. We expect to present a revised Mission Statement for approval to our Annual General Meeting May 12, 2012. We would like input from you at the beginning of our process.
Below, we present two open-ended questions for you to consider and reflect upon. This need not take a lot of time and there are no right answers. We just need your answer. Please write your answer and send by return mail (email » or post) c/o the Director, Christopher Lind within two weeks (by Jan 30, 2012).Your responses will provide important input to our deliberations.
- Please think back over all your experiences of Sorrento Centre. As you do that, please answer the following question: What is the one thing you appreciate most about Sorrento Centre and or what do you value the most about Sorrento Centre?
- Imagine for a moment that we are all members of an extended family. We have just received word that a distant relative has died and they had no children. A lawyer has contacted us to say we have inherited an estate in the Shuswap. There's about 30 acres in three parcels: three building lots on the lake; a large property behind leading up to the highway with many buildings; and a 7-acre farm just down the road. The question is this: what do you propose we do with it?
This is a blank canvas. There is no history you have to worry about, just the question. If this were your property, what would you do with it and what reasons can you give to persuade the rest of us to go along with it?
