Welcome to the Refugee Among Us
with Margaret Marquardt and Mambo Tabu Masinda
This is a course for those who have come to Canada as refugees. Participants will be invited to reflect on their lives back home and in Canada. These stories will be received with care and prayer and focus on the celebration of hope, not only for us as individuals but also for our families and all of humanity.
The context of this course is, as St. Paul wrote to the Christian community at Rome, to “welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God” (Romans 15:7). There will be opportunity to talk about Canada, the customs, the geography, the politics, and the voting system etc. We will have time to talk about what is important to the participants. We will pray and sing and celebrate. There will be a focus on building relationships between parents and children. We will take part in the life of Sorrento Centre including a visit to the farm.
Sponsorship: Any parish or individual who would like to sponsor a refugee family or individual to attend Sorrento and this program is welcome to call Sorrento Centre.
