Walking the Sacred Path:
Rediscovering the Labyrinth
with Anne Elliott and Jacqueline Gautier
Labyrinths have long been used as tools for meditation and prayer in many religious traditions. This course will provide you with the guidance needed for exploring labyrinths, whether you are an experienced labyrinth walker or have never walked one before. If you are new to the labyrinth, you will learn some background to this universal archetype and meditative tool. Experienced labyrinth walkers will have all week to deepen their understanding of the labyrinth as a long-forgotten mystical tradition, as well as share their experiences and insights with others.
Each morning throughout the week we will explore the various areas the labyrinth can address, including healing, self-knowledge, co-creation, and initiation. Participants will be invited to walk the Sorrento labyrinth (located outside beside Caritas) in the afternoon or evening and the group will walk the labyrinth together on the last day of the course.
Recommended – but not mandatory – reading is Walking a Sacred Path: Rediscovering the Labyrinth as a Spiritual Practice by Lauren Artress, Canon of Grace Episcopal Cathedral in San Francisco. Copies of this book will be available in the Sorrento Centre Book and Gift Shoppe.
Walking a labyrinth is a practice which mirrors our spiritual journeys and Anne and Jacqueline will act as your guides along the pathway. Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook.
